Beyond Vision’s BVQ404 has been selected by Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) as the highest-ranked platform for demonstration in its Counter-UAS Proof of Concept Programme.
Designed for rapid deployment against hostile unmanned aerial systems, the BVQ404 combines autonomous navigation, high-speed interception, and mission-ready reliability to support the protection of military bases, critical infrastructure, and strategic assets.
What is an Interceptor Drone?
An interceptor drone is a specialised unmanned aerial system designed to detect, pursue, and neutralise hostile drones before they reach protected assets. Unlike surveillance UAVs, interceptor drones are purpose-built for Counter-UAS operations, providing a rapid and cost-effective response to emerging aerial threats.
Counter-UAS technologies provide an additional layer of protection by enabling organisations to detect, identify, track, and respond to unauthorized aerial activity before it poses a greater operational risk. Within this broader ecosystem, interceptor drones offer a rapid, flexible response that can engage airborne threats while reducing the need for more costly or less adaptable countermeasures.
Engineered for High-Speed Counter-UAS Defense
This BV404 interceptor drone is a compact, high-performance Counter-UAS interceptor engineered for speed, agility, and reliability. It delivers an effective last line of defense against fast-moving unmanned systems while maintaining a minimal logistical footprint.
For defense forces, border security agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and public safety organizations, investing in effective Counter-UAS capabilities is becoming an operational necessity. Beyond protecting assets, these technologies help ensure mission continuity, improve situational awareness, and strengthen resilience against an increasingly complex aerial threat environment.
It will be evaluated within ATLA’s Early Acquisition Program by Japan’s Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), designed to accelerate the evaluation and deployment of interceptor drones. Competing companies also participate in this program; however, the BVQ404 interceptor drone was shortlisted for its highest scores, making it ATLA‘s first priority.
Strengthening Global Defense Partnerships
